City of Legend is played by posting. Posting is where you write what happens to/with your character and their interaction with the other characters. Basically the game is a story that is being told by everyone involved with the game. It is a novel, written by the players through their character interaction.
 
  The plot, also known as the story, is started by the game master, or someone else in the game and everyone adds their little bit to make it interesting. The "game" portion of the RPG comes when someone else writes or responds to your post. This usually will end up either making the story more exciting, or at times, altering the plot altogether.

  The one thing all players must keep in mind is the fact that their posts should not be too outlandish or simply impossible. This can be better explained through gaming.

  Posting is simple. To post, you start with either what your character is doing at that moment, perhaps what they are feeling, or maybe what they see at that time. There are a couple important things you must remember when posting. First, always write in the third person. Example: "Jake drew back with a stake in his hand and held the vampire down." It is better than saying "I held the vampire down and plunged the stake into the vampires heart." Writing in first person become WAY too confusing and is hard to read at times. Second, keep your postings simple and somewhat to the point. Long paragraphs of what your character is feeling becomes boring to read, but don't hesitate to describe in short detail what your character is experiencing. This too, can be better explained through gaming.
  Another important thing to remember is that not all players ply the same way as you do. Some are fantastic writers who go through great lengths to describe their character and what they are experiencing. YOU DON'T have to be a fantastic writer in order to play this game. You may choose to keep your posts simple and to the point. This is just fine. Do NOT compare your writing skills with others. Everyone is treated equally in City of Legend, there are NO favorites.
  We all are simply writers, good or bad, who enjoy writing fantasy. Call it what you will, but it is fun. Besides, you make pretty good friends through RPG's.
